Faculty Development

Faculty Workshops

The faculty development component is designed to help faculty members at the alliance institutions create and sustain inclusive research and academic environments. The STRIDES mentoring structure will be based on evidence-based strategies for creating and implementing mentoring programs, with specific considerations for supporting underrepresented minority (URM) scholars.

Faculty advisors/sponsors of STRIDES applicants will be invited to attend a one-hour webinar to learn about the program, the expectations, and the benefits for both scholars and their advisors/sponsors. Faculty advisors/sponsors of those who are selected as STRIDES Scholars will attend a half-day workshop annually to receive training on mentoring and factors that help and hinder an inclusive climate and culture in classrooms, research groups, and in the academic workplace. The trainings will be made available to all interested faculty at the alliance institutions.
